Beyond Unity is an immersive, multimedia dive in to Dissociative Identity Disorder. Created and performed by Alexandra Drăghici, the piece fuses a floating art exhibition, comedy, movement, soundscapes, and interactive audience engagement to explore the realities of living with Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) and challenge harmful media misrepresentations. Beyond Unity will be performed as part of Healing Together 2026 in Orlando, Florida, the world's largest DID conference.
Imagine walking in on a stage filled with floating art. Imagine “plunging headfirst into a whirlwind of sensation, thought, and lived experience [...] a striking, necessary work that lingers in the mind long after the stage has emptied” ( All Things Theatre ★★★★ )
Created and performed by Alexandra Draghici, Beyond Unity fuses art, comedy, movement, soundscapes, and interactive audience engagement to explore the realities of living with Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) and challenge harmful media misrepresentations.
The performance opens with an immersive art exhibition, surrounding the audience with paintings and poems created by artists with lived experience. Voices of over 30 people from around the world guide the audience through the exhibition. “Favourite art exhibition ever!”; “So beautifully visual!” (Audience members ★★★★★)
Once seated, audiences are thrust into a disjointed, one-woman show where PowerPoint comedy collides with gripping movement and visceral soundscapes. “Engaging, funny, and undeniably heartfelt” (Audience member ★★★★★).
The audience closes the show by writing or drawing their own reflections on dissociation and adding them to the floating exhibition, creating a space where lived experiences safely meet people who listen and believe. “An ineffable exercise in compassion.” (Audience member ★★★★★)
